Pennsylvania mom puts up fence around children’s school playground

A mother of two autistic children in Wayne, Pennsylvania took action to have a fence installed around the children’s school playground.

Wayne Elementary School is located across the street from Pocasset Lake. However, the school did not have a fence surrounding its playground, keeping the children from wandering off.

According to a Journal of Autism and Development Disorders study, one of the common causes of death among those with autism is drowning. The lack of fencing around the playground posed a hazard for the school, which houses the Wayne Regional Autism Program.

After receiving permission from the superintendent’s office, a chain link fence was installed to keep the children safe.
